Start Here: How to Start Trading as a Complete Beginner
Never traded before and no idea where to begin? This is the page. I'm going to give you the exact path I'd give a friend at my kitchen table, in order, start to finish. Almost all of it is free.
First, the real why. We don't do this to stare at charts all day. We do it for pin money. Money that's yours, that you earned, that nobody gave you permission to spend. That's the whole point of everything below, so read this before anything else: Pin Money: Trading for What Actually Matters.
Now here's the whole journey in six steps. I'll walk through each one below.
- Understand why we trade.
- Get your free tools set up.
- Learn to read a chart.
- Plan and place your first trade on paper, no real money.
- Pick a method and a goal.
- Join the community so you're not doing it alone.
You can start today, on your phone, for free. Let's go.
Step 1. Understand the why first
Before any charts, you need to understand the ground you're standing on. What Bitcoin actually is, and why learning to trade matters at all. I teach the why before the how on purpose. It's the difference between following a system and guessing.
Start with Lesson 01: Bitcoin is the Key. Then Lesson 02: Inflation is Theft.
Step 2. Get your free tools
You need a small, free toolkit. A wallet, a charting app, a way to check tokens are legit, and the free MWT app to tie it together. I've done the trial and error for you. Lesson 03: Tools for the Trade covers each one.
Step 3. Learn to read a chart
This is the part that looks scary and isn't. You'll learn what the lines mean and set your charts up the way we trade. Work through Lesson 04: How Trading Works and Lesson 05: Setting Up TradingView, which has a video walkthrough.
Step 4. Plan and place your first trade (no real money)
Now you put it together. Plan a trade properly, then place your first one on paper. Real charts, real prices, no risk. Lesson 06: Plan Your First Trade then Lesson 07: Take Your First Paper Trade, video included.
Step 5. Pick a method and a goal
This is where it becomes a habit instead of a one-off. The method I teach is Pin Money. You trade toward one specific thing you want each week, then stop when you hit it. Read Pin Money: Trading for What Actually Matters.
Step 6. Join the community
You don't have to do this alone, and you shouldn't. The moms in our free Telegram are at every stage, from "what's a wallet?" to placing daily trades. Download the free MWT app and join the free Telegram.
Still have questions before you start?
Normal. Here are honest answers to what every beginner asks.
How much money do you actually need to start? Is crypto trading safe for beginners? Can you learn with no experience and no math brain? When do you switch from paper trading to real money?
Mom Tip: Don't try to do all six steps today. Do Step 1 today. That's it. This fits around your life, not the other way around. One step at a time, and the market will still be here when you're ready.
There's no course at the end of this. No upsell. Everything here is free, because the goal is simply to get more moms in the game. Welcome. I'm glad you're here.
Frequently Asked
How do I start trading crypto as a complete beginner? Start by understanding the fundamentals, what Bitcoin is and why trading matters. Then set up your free tools, learn to read a chart, and place your first trade on paper with no real money. Moms Who Trade has a free step-by-step lesson series and app for exactly this.
Do I need money to start learning to trade? No. The lessons, the app, paper trading and the community are all free. You only need real money when you choose to place a real trade, and even then most beginners start with $50 to $250 they can afford to lose.
How long does it take to go from zero to my first trade? Many beginners place their first paper trade within a week or two of starting. Getting consistent takes longer, but you can begin the very first day.
Is Moms Who Trade really free? Yes. The lessons, the app, the YouTube content and the Telegram community are free forever. There is no paid course and no upsell.
Do I need any experience to start? No. The whole path is built for people who have never traded and have no finance background. I started knowing nothing about charts.
This page shares Mel's personal trading journey and the approach taught inside the Moms Who Trade community. It is not financial advice and nothing here is a recommendation to buy, sell, or trade any specific asset. Trading involves real risk, including the loss of your entire investment. Please do your own research, only trade with money you can afford to lose, and consult a licensed financial professional before making decisions based on your circumstances.
